Cette orientation face aux vents dominants de l\u2019hiver emp\u00eachait la sortie des barques trouvillaises, obligeant les p\u00eacheurs \u00e0 s\u2019expatrier \u00e0 Dieppe, au Tr\u00e9port ou au Havre pour vendre leurs poissons pendant la mauvaise saison. This old orientation towards the winds in winter stopped the ships from leaving the harbor, forcing the local fishermen to fish and sell their catch in Dieppe, in Tr\u00e9port or in the Havre. &nbsp;<br><br>To fix this issue, the town decided to redraw the course of the river towards the north from 1846 to 1849 by the digging of a new canal almost perpendicular to the original course. The new canal was finalized with the construction of two wooden piers. The piers would also allow the tow of smaller sailboats when the winds were bad.&nbsp; The docks were now accessible no matter the winds. &nbsp;<br><br>Elongated multiple times since they were installed, the first pier was destroyed at the end of World War II. Deauville\u2019s dams were rebuilt in 1952 while Trouville would have to wait until the summer of 1964.
