Le chemin des\n\u00c9cores qui courait \u00e0 la cr\u00eate de l\u2019escarpement avait\nune importance essentielle : c\u2019\u00e9tait le principal\nmoyen d\u2019acc\u00e9der de l\u2019ancien village, group\u00e9\nautour de son \u00e9glise Saint-Jean-Baptiste, au quai\ndu hameau des p\u00eacheurs et ensuite \u00e0 la mer.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Des \u00ab maisons de p\u00eacheurs \u00bb jalonnent ici et l\u00e0\ncette rue : \u00e0 l\u2019origine, chaque maison se compose\nen bas d\u2019une pi\u00e8ce \u00e0 vivre (cuisine) peu profonde,\nsurmont\u00e9e d\u2019une chambre au premier, et d\u2019un\n\u00e9tage comble qui servait de chambre mansard\u00e9e\nmais \u00e9galement de grenier \u00e0 son propri\u00e9taire. Does it have English origins \u2013 to score \u2013 meaning to keep count of the ships or the French word \u2013 accore \u2013 meaning the props used in naval construction to keep the pieces steady ? <br><br>Before the arrival of the highway n.16 in 1842, the right riverbank of the Touques River had no docks on the south side and had only one customs agent. The right riverbank also consisted of a small towpath, an essential access point into the village that was built around its church, Saint- Jean-Baptiste. <br><br>A group of maisons de p\u00eacheurs (fishermen\u2019s houses) mark this path today.
